"This book is a good resource in the way of content, so I don't want to downgrade it too much. But, the paper is terrible and the printing is light and uneven. It's really difficult to read this! I've never had a textbook with such crummy paper & printing. Maybe it's a counterfeit? Or the publisher has gone downhill in their quality standards."

Content Area Reading Literacy and Learning Across the Curriculum 12th Edition Richard T Vacca Jo Anne L Vacca Maryann E Mraz Books Reviews

  • Pages are so thin you must be so delicate when flipping the pages. Also, this is NOT BOUND. You have to put it into a binder. For the price, I can hardly believe that this is acceptable.
  • I did learn some from this book, but it was a bit repetitive and dry at times. The language was too simple much of the time to hold my interest and a lot of the material covered seemed to be common sense to me. However, there were some great instructional techniques covered and explained and I appreciate how these techniques built on my previous knowledge of effective instruction. I recommend this book to you if you’re looking to refresh your knowledge on literacy instruction in the classroom and possibly add a few instructional strategies to your teaching “toolbox.”
  • I purchased it for literacy class. I liked how the paper was thin and light. The book is definitely grounded in the basics of literacy strategies but felt like a lot of it could have been available online for free. I will definitely keep it on my bookshelf as a resource.
  • Okay this is ironic because I rented this text intentionally for the loose leaf so I could put in in a notebook. It arrived with a generic outer binding. I don't know what is to do to make readers of this textbook happy because no one is currently satisfied. At least modify the description to show that it is bound.
  • This book is a good resource in the way of content, so I don't want to downgrade it too much. But, the paper is terrible and the printing is light and uneven. It's really difficult to read this! I've never had a textbook with such crummy paper & printing. Maybe it's a counterfeit? Or the publisher has gone downhill in their quality standards.
  • The book contains relevant information and is clearly organized to the point that it's black and white— literally and figuratively. Not a very exciting read, but that's to be expected since it's a textbook for class. I ordered this book as a rental, and I'm glad that it came in a timely manner in a condition that exceeded my expectations; I'm a relatively rough person, but I don't find the pages too thin, plus I'm glad that the book is bound because I was dreading buying a binder. I recommend not buying this book, but simply renting it due to its terrible retail value.
  • One day later, the pages are already ripping. The holes for the looseleaf are far too close to the binder rings. The book itself is a great one with good content. Please make this
    1. Cheaper
    2. With Binding

    Looseleaf books are the worst.
  • It's a textbook for a class. What more can I say...?
